This blog post starts day 5.  We head to the airport to fly to Auckland, New Zealand.  We get our baggage and see a sign with our names on it for our driver.  He takes us to our hotel, The Rydges.  This first photo was the view from our hotel!  The very first thing that was on Ryan’s list of things to do was to find a place to watch the Royals game.  We found a place called The Fox, watched the game, drank some beer and a had a cheese plate.  Once the Royals won, a few guys in the bar bought Ryan a beer because they were also cheering for the Royals and since we were on our honeymoon!   We went on a walkabout around the Harbour and then ate supper at The Crab Shack.  We had wine, green lipped muscles and prawns.  We got back to our hotel and got ready for the next day! To see our next day, check out this post about Waiheke Island.

Newlyweds in Australia

On day 7 in New Zealand we took a ferry to Devonport and took a bus tour to Mount Victoria to North Head.  The views were amazing and the history about North Head was pretty cool.  We even saw the disappearing gun.  One thing that we saw that was similar to winter in the USA was the sledding.  We usually have snow on the ground and use plastic, but they just sled on the grass with cardboard.  A photo is below.

We had some lunch in downtown Devonport and had pepperoni pizza, garlic bread, cheesecake and carrot cake!  Yum, Yum, Yum!  We almost missed the ferry again and got back to the hotel to take a nap.  We found a little Chinese place near our hotel and ate some corn chowder and honey prawns with fried rice.  It was a very quiet evening for us.   Stay posted for the next post about our tour of Hobbiton.
